About the Piece
DP-001 was the first object designed under THEPROTOTYPIST - before there was a studio, there was this table.
The frame borrows its structure from architecture: a diagrid of slotted steel, cross-braced in paracord, distributing load the way a building's exoskeleton does. Rather than hiding the construction, it's left exposed - the joinery is the design.
Each pair is hand-built and squared individually, then finished with a glossy black acrylic top that caps the frame like a shadow. No two are assembled the same way twice, but every one is built to the same standard.
Numbered as part of a limited early run. Each owner seats their own numbered plate into place - the final, personal step in completing the piece.
